When I was in college, I tried a variety of techniques and I must agree that stress is the biggest killer for being productive and effective in anything.
Found this on the 37 Signals blog. Seems easy to do and it might help keep you from making mistakes, but it might be a bit confusing to kids just learning to multiply. I usually take notes on graph paper, so I’ll have to keep this in mind next time I need to do a quick calculation.

Hmm… I already tried getting up earlier and all that got me was more hours at work.
Maybe I’ll go for a walk after lunch.
I’ve read several people’s experiences with it and it seems like it might be a “gotta try it” thing as everyone is different.
My current sleep patterns are all over the place. I get between 2 and 9 hours of sleep. On the weekend, my wife and I often take a ~2 hour nap on one day in afternoon when our daughter takes hers. I have the occasional marathon at work where I put in a 16+ hour day and I usually use lots of caffene and sugar to stay awake. Read the rest of this entry »
