Tempermental Templates!

Well, I just plopped in a new theme. The old one was pissing me off way too much. I’ve actually had similar problems with several themes… something in a plugin or post will inject some CSS garbage that will throw the whole thing out of whack. I’ve been able to iron out the most of the bugs, but one that I couldn’t figure out is that some posts will cause the sidebar to show up at the bottom of the page. This post is a good example. It seems like there ought to be a sure fire way to make sure no content in a post will bleed CSS gunk to the rest of the page, but I haven’t found it yet. Anyway, this theme fixed my immediate problems. I think I’m going to decide on a layout I really like before I do anymore tinkering with PHP & CSS that I’m just going to throw away.

Nightmares of Clippy

I’ve been needing a utility to store multiple clippings, but I couldn’t find one that I liked so I asked the helpful people on the 43 Folders Google Group. Steve suggested ClipMate, Eugene liked Ditto, and Ricochet pointed me toward Clipomatic. The other programs that I found on my own that weren’t a complete waste of time were M8 Multi-Clipboard and CLCL.

Bow down to the rodent

Web Worker Daily asks:

Do we control the mice? or do the mice control us?

Logitech Revolution MXWhat a coincidence that I ran across this post today… I just picked up a Logitech Revolution MX this morning (my previous mouse was a Cordless Click Plus). I had a gift card, so I didn’t have to shell out the whole $99 for it, but it would have been worth it! Although I guess I kinda have a mouse fetish. Having an Office Depot on the corner near my house is like the neighborhood bar for an alcoholic.

The new shape with the little ledge under your thumb is really comfortable. I can’t imagine a mouse getting better than this except if I didn’t have to take my hands off the keyboard. For a long time I had ThinkPad laptops and used the little pointer stick, but one day my index finger started twitching and didn’t stop. I went to the doctor after a couple days of this and he told me to stop using the finger (try not using your index finger; it’s hard) for a while and get a good mouse. After that experience I was more receptive to people’s complaints about uncomfortable keyboards and mice.

A closer look at the Scrybe calendar

It looks like the guy over at “My Uninstalled Life” was one of the lucky ones to get an invite to try out Scrybe. He’s got a good screencast of the calendar, but what I really want to know about is the web clipping part of it. I use OneNote a lot and I’d love to have access to that sort of app online. I tried Google Notebook, but it didn’t really have any good way to organize your notes.

A Meeting of the Minds

Together at last! Merlin’s blog introduced me to David Allen’s Getting Things Done book. Now Merlin and David will be doing a podcast together. The first one is on a topic everyone deals with: Procrastination.
